Summit tour to the Gamskogel via the Miesenbachalm

We start this summit tour at the Ahornau hunting lodge or at the Gamskogelhütte in Windau valley, Westendorf.  Access either by car or with the “Windautaler Wandertaxi” (Windau valley hiking taxi).  For info please contact 0043 57507 2000 300.    
The hiking trail leads us initially to Tagweidalm.  The trail leads along a steep ascent to the Miesenbachalm.   Continuing between the farm buildings, we find ourselves on a very pleasant, relaxing trail to the “Miesenbachkessel” to the sheep farmers’ shelter.  Enjoy a well-earned, calming rest in this idyllic haven.  We continue to the right, first over high moors, then over stony pastures, a continuous, steep uphill climb to the Gamskogel’s summit cross.  This cross is maintained by Westendorf’s Sheep & Goat Breeding Society.
Descent like ascent.
Variations:
• return the same way for a short distance – however in the dip continue straight ahead uphill to the Speikkogel - (possibly also Steinkogel) then from the Speikkogel across the saddle to Geigenscharte - there left towards Gamsbeil (those who want to, can also ascend to this summit) in the dip below the Gamsbeil descend to the shelter once again - Miesenbachalm
